Landscape Architect
María del Sol Galdón
María is an award-winning landscape architect with experience in numerous types and scales of landscape projects. She is a registered Landscape Architect and holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of British Columbia. She has professional experience as a landscape architect and interior designer, from site specific to urban scale. She is also a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary’s Master of Landscape Architecture Program.
María was named Western’s Living Magazine 2019 and 2022 Landscape Designer of the Year.
Together with her team, María received a NALE (National Award of Landscape Excellence) for her residential design in 2023.
General Manager
Frank Galdón
Frank is the General Manager for Planta. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Calgary. Frank is a Landscape Industry Certified Manager (CNLA) and Landscape Technician (LANTA). He has over 25 years of experience in the industry. Frank manages all aspects of Planta’s build and construction operations.
Frank, together with the build team have won numerous LANTA (Landscape Alberta Nursery Trades Association) landscape awards for the execution of their construction projects.

Melanie
Office Administrator
Melanie holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management from Humber College and a double Honors degree in Psychology and Criminology from the University of Windsor. She joined the Planta team in February 2021 as our Studio Administration. She has more than 20 years of professional experience as a Human Resource Manager and brings extensive customer service experience to the team. Melanie is the first point of contact for all new landscape projects and works with our innovative and talented staff to communicate and connect with new and returning clients, find answers to questions and provide assistance needed on projects.
Jorgelina
Finance Manager
Jorgelina leads Planta’s accounting and financial requirements. She holds a degree in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has extensive professional experience evaluating, programming, executing and supervising finance and budgets in a wide range of sectors, including government and the private realm.
Jorgelina loves spending time in the mountains with her family and friends. She is always ready with a warm smile, and she says her favourite thing about her job is, ""the Planta team!"" We have to agree, and it is team members like Jorgelina who make Planta a great place to work!
Weiting
Intern Landscape Architect
Weiting holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Calgary and a Master of Urban Design from the University of Sheffield, UK. She joined Planta in April 2020 and has been working on design projects of different scales, from small city infill gardens to multi-family residential landscapes. She also has professional experience working as an architect, urban planner and environmental designer. Weiting manages Planta’s Design Studio, including personnel and design projects, from conceptual design through construction administration.
Elissa
Landscape Designer / Horticulturist
Elissa is a Journeyman Landscape-Gardener and Red Seal Landscape Horticulturist. She has led teams in lawn and garden maintenance and landscape construction, before running her own landscape design business. Early on in her studies she discovered a passion for designing landscapes that bring people closer to nature, and to one another. Elissa splits her time between the studio and on-site meetings; she may be the first person you meet from Planta Landscape when conducting an initial site review. She appreciates that each site is as unique as the client, and enjoys the challenge of coming up with design solutions to honor this.
Andrea
Administration Assistant
Andrea started out in the maintenance department, managing the client accounts at Planta. Now, she dabbles in many different areas including irrigation, spring/fall clean-ups, plant replacements, and general administration. You will see Andrea on various sites, servicing these projects. Andrea says " I love working at Planta because of the great people I work with! Teamwork makes the dream work! "
Jay
Project Manager
Jay has a diploma in Aircraft Engineering and has many years of experience in Civil Engineering as well as over 15 years of expertise in Landscape Operations. Jay joined the Planta team in 2022 as our Operations and Project Manager. He coordinates Sub Trades for specialty construction items and quotes these projects, looks after Planta's Health and Safety needs and looks after scheduling and sourcing materials. You may see Jay on site, meeting and consulting with the Contractors, as well as reviewing any onsite challenges and ensuring everything exceeds our customer's expectations.
Kyle
Project Manager
Kyle holds a Horticulture Landscape certificate from Okanagan College and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree with a major in Supply Chain Management from Mount Royal University. Kyle is an on-site project manager for Planta. He has over 9 years of experience in landscape construction and maintenance, with an operations management focus.
Kurt
Project Manager
Kurt is an ISA Certified Arborist (International Society of Arboriculture).
He has over 19 years of nursery, garden centre, and landscape construction experience. He has extensive knowledge of local plant materials. Kurt is an on-site project manager for Planta. Kurt always says ""I am an Arborist doing what I love, making the world a little more green and beautiful."" If you have any vegetation questions Kurt will be the one you reach out to!
Sergio
Lighting / Irrigation Manager
As a Red Seal Electrician, Sergio joined our team in 2021 and has been working on all lighting and irrigation services, including setting up new irrigation and lighting systems, making adjustments to existing systems, smart home connections as well as maintenance and repairs as needed. Sergio oversees all of out Irrigation start ups and blowouts as well.
Luis
Senior Consultant
Luis is an Agricultural Engineer trained in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The founder of Planta, his years of practice have helped to make Planta the successful organization it is today. Luis acts as Senior Consultant for Planta Landscape.
Jade
Landscape Designer
Jade joined Planta in 2022 as a Landscape Designer. She holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Hunan Agricultural University in China. As a graduate student, Jade has done many studios related to a diverse range of subject matter, showing strong skills in analysis, visualization, and problem-solving. She studied a broad spectrum of landscape topics from riparian ecosystem management to the impact of public realm design on small businesses, and she delivered academic and design presentations to showcase her knowledge and skills. At Planta, Jade assists with landscape design projects from site inventory to project deliverables, using her talent to translate design concepts into stunning graphics, in 2D and 3D formats.
Nicole
Nicole is a seasoned Journeyman in Landscape Horticulture, holding an advanced diploma in the field and is recognized as a Red Seal professional. With over 10 years of hands-on experience in landscape maintenance and construction, she brings a wealth of practical expertise to her work. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Nicole is dedicated to expanding her knowledge and skillset. Her passion for sustainable technologies drives her commitment to blending practical expertise with forward-thinking solutions. Throughout her academic pursuits and professional endeavours, Nicole has consistently showcased a dedication to excellence and a profound interest in crafting landscapes that immerse people in nature while championing sustainability and environmental stewardship.
